So I guess this is the last blog entry. It’s been a wild ride; 16 countries, over 5000 pictures, 89,000 total kilometres travelled, 30 flights, 10 trains and more buses, boats, vans and car rides than we could possibly count. An African wedding, swimming with great whites, walking with lions, cruising the Zambia, flying over the Vic Falls, avoiding pick pocketers, feeding Hyenas, camels in the Sahara, dead bodies, beachfront bungalows, driving through India, the Taj Mahal, climbing volcanoes, space cakes, typhoons, the Great Wall, Angkor Wat, eating dog, machine guns, big cities, small villages, lakes, rivers and oceans. We’ve seen so many places and done so many things in such a small amount of time that we will probably only begin to absorb it several months from now.
Africa was exhilarating – I can’t even begin to explain the mix of emotions and thoughts that we had while traveling there. The constant stimulation, both mental and physical, gets under the skin and despite the exhaustion and frustration that accompanies travelling here, it’s addicting. We look forward to going back.
Asia is much easier to travel and is really built for tourism. Getting off the beaten path is becoming harder and harder but there are certainly still places available for exploring. The geographic landscapes in Asia are gorgeous for food lovers, this is heaven. Street buffets serve everything from maggots to pineapples. And for the most part the people are very friendly.
